Mayali Mulil Festival — 10th Anniversary Celebration
The Murdudjurl Family invites the world to sit with them on Country and celebrate a decade since their first festival. What began as a small gathering on Murumburr Clan Country has grown into a distinctive cultural event, and in September 2026, Mayali Mulil marks ten years with its most ambitious program yet.

Set on the Jim Jim Creek wetlands within Kakadu National Park, this multi-day cultural immersion is led entirely by Traditional Owners on land their family has cared for across generations — an invitation into living culture, not a performance staged for an audience.

Guests will enjoy live music, bush tucker prepared using traditional methods, and hands-on workshops in weaving, string making, and artifact craft — didgeridoos, spears, and clapsticks — to take home. Surprise anniversary announcements are still to come.

Guided walks with family members reveal the landscape during Kurrung season, Kakadu's dry period famed for birdwatching, wildlife, and sunsets. Camping is included, with facilities kept modest and capacity capped to preserve intimacy.

Delivered entirely by the Murdudjurl Family's Aboriginal-owned Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp, Mayali Mulil demonstrates genuine Traditional Owner-led economic development, extending benefit to Bininj communities region-wide.
