An Evening with Cape Adieu on Darwin Harbour

Cape-Adieu-Cover

Cape Adieu Banner

There are some evenings that remind you why Darwin is such a special place, and our sunset cruise with Cape Adieu was definitely one of them.

On the 26th of May, our team was lucky enough to spend the evening together aboard Cape Adieu on Darwin Harbour. It was one of those perfect dry season nights where everything just comes together.

Getting There

The evening started at Dock 3, Stokes Hill Wharf, with boarding at 5pm. The atmosphere around the wharf was already lovely, with people out enjoying the dry season and the sun slowly starting to go down.

As soon as we stepped aboard, we knew we were in for a beautiful evening. The water was so calm and the weather was absolutely perfect. We slowly sailed away from the wharf while the sky started changing colours.

Meeting the Crew

A special shout out to the owner, Grace, and to Munro and the rest of the crew.

Everyone was so lovely, attentive and always smiling, making sure we had the best experience from the moment we stepped on board. You can really tell they love what they do, and it just makes the whole experience even better.

They created such a relaxed atmosphere that you instantly felt comfortable and could just enjoy the evening.

First Course

We started with a beautiful seafood starter made of prawns, oysters and ceviche.

Everything was fresh, full of flavour and a real taste of the Top End. Sitting on the boat with a drink in hand, enjoying amazing food while the sun was starting to set over Darwin Harbour, it doesn't get much better than that.

The Main Event

For the main course, guests could choose between local NT barramundi with saltbush potato mash and fresh local produce, or a scotch fillet served with sweet potato puree, seasonal greens and chimichurri.

To finish, we were served a tropical panna cotta topped with seasonal fruits. Light, fresh and full of tropical flavours.

The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavour.

But for me, the real star of the evening was the sunset.

The Sunset

The sunset was just spectacular.

Definitely my favorite part of the night. I could have stayed there for hours just watching the colors change over the harbour. The water was so calm, reflecting all the pinks and oranges in the sky. It was one of those moments where you just stop talking for a second and take it all in.

We spent the evening having a few drinks, eating amazing food and having a really good laugh together. There is something about being on a sailing boat that really makes you appreciate those dry season nights in Darwin.

Cruising Home

The cruise lasts around two hours, which I think is just perfect. You have enough time to relax, enjoy the food and drinks, chat with everyone and take in the views without feeling rushed.

At around 8pm, we slowly made our way back to Stokes Hill Wharf after what had been such a beautiful evening. Great food, great company, stunning scenery.

If you're looking for a casual dinner on the water or just a lovely experience to share with friends, family or colleagues, I would definitely recommend the Cape Adieu Sunset Cruise.
