Total Solar Eclipse 2028
On 22 July 2028, a total solar eclipse will sweep across Australia, as the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, briefly blocking the Sun’s light along a narrow path across the country.
Across the Top End, the eclipse will be visible as a partial eclipse, with the amount of the Sun obscured varying by location. In the Big Rivers region, around Katherine, 91.3% of the Sun will be covered, while Darwin will experience 88.1% coverage and Nhulunbuy in East Arnhem will see 74.5%. This rare astronomical event offers a remarkable opportunity to witness the eclipse from across the Northern Territory.
